Neodymium countersunk magnets are widely used in home decoration, family fitment and engineering construction industry. For example, NdFeB countersink permanent magnets  are more and more used in hinge system of cabinet doors and washroom door. Hinge is a kind of machinery used to connect two solid parts and allows rotating between both parts. It is formed by movable components, or folding material.
Hinges occupy an important position in hardware. The quality of hinge is directly related to the quality of the furniture and the use of the door.

For the doors in sitting room and bed room, the built-in magnets in hinges work in relatively dry environment. While for the doors in kitchen, balcony and especially bathroom, the neodymium permanent magnets in the hinges are likely to go rusting easily without superior coating protection. The rusty magnet cannot work well, and affect the function of other related parts as well. In moist environments, black epoxy coating is better than Ni-Cu-Ni in preventing magnets from corrosion and oxidation.
Customers and users can also choose better composite coating like Zn+black epoxy or Ni-Cu-Ni+Black epoxy.

I'm working on a project that requires a Nema 34 stepper motor to be altered to accommodate a ***mm hollow shaft through it. The main problem is the permanent magnet's ID is too small.

Looking for Strongest Permanent Magnet – Neodymium Magnet Material:
The material of the magnet is random. Important is that the magnet is very strong, so it can hold more than 40kg. My current magnets are bar magnets (NdFeB) with a holding force of 4.4kg and I'm using 10 of them as a ring magnet. But their magnetic field isn't very homogeneous.
The plating should be water resistant and it should be possible to glue it with epoxy adhesive.
The magnet should be magnetized and the direction should be like the sketch in the attachment.

Using 4pcs 1/4 disc / arc magnets to form a disc or ring magnet with 4 poles through diameter: 
N40 is one of the grades of Sintered NdFeB permanent magnetic material.
Actually, the mentioned magnetization direction is not workable for both Sintered neodymium disc magnets and ring magnets.
Probably you can only use 4pcs 1/4 disc or 4pcs arc magnets with 90°to form a disc or ring magnet if it's possible for you.
