Neodymium permanent magnets are mainly used in sensors and motors of intelligent robots including industrial robots, professional service robots and individual/domestic robots, of which year-on-year growth of sales was 29%, 11% and 17.5% in 2014, according to statistics of International Robot Association. Industry and consumption cannot upgrade without rapid development of future intelligent manufacture and service. With relative prediction of International Robot Association, in these few years, sales growth of industrial robots will be 12%-15%, professional service robots 10%-12%, and individual/domestic robots 20%. An industrial robot and a professional service robot consume 20kgs of neodymium iron boron magnets, while an individual/domestic robot uses 0.5kg. Based on prediction of sales and production volume and consumption of single robot, in 2016-2018, there will be 9431 tons, 10817 tons and 12799 tons of neodymium magnets will be used in global robot area, with year-on-year growth rate of 13.5%, 14.7% and 18.3%.
