NdFeB Neodymium Permanent Magnets for Medical Application


Look for Neodymium Magnet  for Medical Device:
We have a need for custom geometry NdFeB magnets to be used in medical device application. The permanent magnet will have a complex shape (not a simple cylinder or block).  They need to be plated on all surfaces with 10 micron thick gold.
We are wondering if you have experience making custom magnets.

Custom Medical Magnets in Intravascular Catheter:
We are using this magnet in a medical device (intravascular catheter).  As I mentioned earlier, the outer surface must be plated with pure gold (10 micron), all surfaces must be plated in gold, not just the OD surfaces.  The surface quality needs to be very smooth and clean, as this device will be in contact with patients.

The magnets you designed is very difficult to produce, because neodymium magnets are very brittle.
Please allow us some more time to check if it is producible to us.

Thank you for responding to our inquiry. It is a high “value–added” component because of the extra effort needed to make these magnets with these tolerances and without chipping.
The result is worth it for us – we must have them!  We realize they will likely be more costly than standard-shaped magnets used in other applications.
