Generally, the most annoying condition for the rider probably is the foot slip off the bike pedal when cycling thus to take a missed step and lose control. Fortunately, a new design on Kickstarter named Vault MagLock may solve this problem smoothly with permanent magnets in the pedal to attach the shoes.

According to the introduction, the product is made of a lightweight plastic composite. And thanks to the neodymium block magnets  in the pedal, which works combined with a stain plate in the biking shoes, it makes riding easier for various cyclists. The inventor shows that with the neodymium permanent magnet, the rider just need to step on the pedal and then the foot will just like being locked on it thus will not miss any step anymore. It is said that the idea is not new actually and can dated back to 1896; however, it has improved greatly nowadays. For example, the magnetism of the pedal can be adjusted by riders’ requirements: the green hands can use minimum force; and the experienced can turn the force to 25 or even 30lbs.


Now, the Vault MagLock is available on Kickstarter for pre-order at a price of $80 a pair. And it is predicted that the goods will be shipped out in May 2017.

An English Research Team has developed the Smallest Charger with Neodymium Permanent Magnets in the world

Recently, an English research team Design on Impulse has developed the smallest charger in the world, named Nipper. It is actually a mini-charger that used in emergency with a 17x17mm size and a woven belt.

Usually, the permanent magnetic charger can be put into pocket or hang with the key. And when you need it, what you should do is just to open it and install two batteries. So how about the charging efficiency? After a series of experiments with a smart phone, the research team found that there will be 10% power when charging for 30 minutes, and 20% for 60 minutes, which can keep 3.6 hours in using condition or 4 days in standby mode. According the introduction, there is a Boost convertor in it to transfer the electric power of dry cell into 5V voltage for charging. And the core component of it is 3 neodymium magnets  to fix the batteries and conduct electricity, thus to omit excess parts for connecting, which is not only simplify the inner structure and the whole production process, but also save the total cost.


It can be predicted that with the more and more advanced science and technology, there will be a great prospects of neodymium permanent magnets in the future.

Magnet Assembly instructions
Each assembly drawing specify the use of Permabond TA435 with Initiator 41. This cannot be substituted.
Any neodymium permanent magnets  damaged during installation must be properly removed and replaced with new magnets.

Neodymium countersunk magnets are widely used in home decoration, family fitment and engineering construction industry. For example, NdFeB countersink permanent magnets  are more and more used in hinge system of cabinet doors and washroom door. Hinge is a kind of machinery used to connect two solid parts and allows rotating between both parts. It is formed by movable components, or folding material.
Hinges occupy an important position in hardware. The quality of hinge is directly related to the quality of the furniture and the use of the door.

For the doors in sitting room and bed room, the built-in magnets in hinges work in relatively dry environment. While for the doors in kitchen, balcony and especially bathroom, the neodymium permanent magnets in the hinges are likely to go rusting easily without superior coating protection. The rusty magnet cannot work well, and affect the function of other related parts as well. In moist environments, black epoxy coating is better than Ni-Cu-Ni in preventing magnets from corrosion and oxidation.
