I have some questions about custom permanent magnets:
Custom "arc segment" shape sintered NdFeB magnets that are magnetized "through thickness" at 0.8mm. We would like to reduce the thickness even more to 0.4mm. Is it possible to make these magnets that thin?
Is N54 the strongest grade you have available for your custom sintered neodymium magnets? 
Does the choice of magnet coating make any significant difference to the magnetic strength of very thin magnets, such as the ones we are requesting?

Arc magnet with thickness 0.4mm is ok. By the way, the grade N54 is still not available for now. N52 permanent magnet is the strongest now.
Our technician informed the magnet coating will not make significant difference to the magnetic strength of this thickness 0.4mm magnet.

The power consumption of elevator is huge, which is one of the largest energy consumption equipments in high-rise building. China elevator industry association estimates that the power consumption of elevator every day accounts for about 5-15% of the whole building's energy consumption. At present, the traction machines used in the elevators are mainly permanent magnet synchronous motor and traditional asynchronous motor. Neodymium PM synchronous motor adopts direct drive mode, increasing transmission efficiency significantly, and at the same time significantly reducing about 50% energy consumption than traditional motor. With the implementation of National energy conservation and emissions reduction policy, energy saving elevators which adopting permanent magnetic synchronous motors are the development direction of the future. Our domestic production of elevators is 771,400 units in 2016, increased by 1.5% on year-on-year basis, accounted for more than 90% of the global production.

In 2016, the permeability of domestic energy-saving elevator is approximately 60%, in addition, the amount of neodymium magnets used in every energy-saving elevator is 7 kilos, and hereby domestic NdFeB consumption for energy-saving elevator is expected to be 3240 tons.
(1) considering the real estate investment and new home sales area are greatly increased in 2016, the demand of the elevator is expected to be gradually released within recent two years, assuming that the average annual growth rate of domestic elevator output is 10% in 2017-2018; (2) Assuming that the  permeability of energy-saving elevators increase 5% annually. According to the above assumptions, the usage amount of neodymium permanent magnets for the domestic energy saving elevator is expected to be 3861 tons and 4574 tons respectively in year 2017~2018, year-on-year increase 19.17% and 18.46% respectively.

Analysts indicate that there are two main reasons for dramatically increasing price in a short time. On one hand, influenced by fast price jump of rare earth metal, permanent magnet manufacturer, with strong cost transferable ability, have to moderate price of neodymium permanent magnets. On the other hand, development of new energy automobile and its increasing demand guarantees modest price growth of magnetic products in the future.


Actually, this year, domestic new energy automobile industry has maintained rapid development. According to latest data released by China Automotive Industry Association, China sold 56000 new energy cars in July, with its year-on year growth by 55.2%.  Also, in the first 7 months, 251000 new energy vehicles were sold, with year-one year growth by 21.5%.
